National Council for Special Education Summer Programme 2022
The aim of the Summer Programme 2022 NCSE resources is to support tutors and teachers to provide fun and engaging learning experiences for students that focus on consolidating relationships with their schools, supporting physical, social and emotional well-being, developing resilience, building their confidence as learners and developing skills and routines to support successful transition into the next stage of their schooling.
Autistic people are still afraid to tell prospective employers about their condition in fear they will lose the opportunity to get the role.
We should now be in a place where employers are actively looking for autistic and other neurodivergent individuals to fill the talent gaps.
Autistic talents and skills are plentiful and abundant. Even when there are other co-existing conditions where higher support may be required, there are still some excellent qualities and skills the individual has, which are valuable to the working world.
It’s time to change the narrative, and look outside the culture fit. It’s time to seek the talent for the role and change the workplace culture to fit the neurodivergent person, rather than the other way round.
The NCSE has released a video in support of anyone delivering the Summer Programme. There are lots of useful resources on their website.
